BIO
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Thomas grew up exploring the natural beauty and historic districts of the East Coast with his family. At 15, he snapped a picture of a friend dancing in front of the Jefferson Memorial - Washington, D.C., and submitted it to a local publication’s photo contest on a whim. He won. That encouraged him to take a photography internship offered by his sister at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort, where his photography was featured in their brochures and website. He found himself seeking out hidden shots in his everyday routine, capturing the light on birch trees at Starbucks and helping his friends perfect portraits as they developed their personal brands.
It wasn’t until he drove across the country at 21 to his current home in Santa Barbara, CA, that he realized photography could become more than a creative outlet, or a way of exploring new places, but a career. These days, you can usually find him anywhere between Joshua Tree National Park and Big Sur, his love for the mountains, deserts and beaches spurring travel along the California coast.
His lifestyle photography is inspired by the creative people he finds himself surrounded by while out exploring, and an opportunity to allow these new, strange creators to see themselves from a different perspective. His endless curiosity has brought him insight into the inner workings of local businesses, the Los Angeles music scene, and niche tourism industries that would have otherwise remained unexplored.
